Design Process
There are three critical stages involved in delivering an excellent result for a golf course project. The first relates to the masterplanning, the second to the detailed construction documentation for the golf course and the third is for site monitoring of the construction.
Our Masterplanning design process involves three phases: Preliminary Concept, Design Development, and the Full Site Masterplan and Report.
-
2
Masterplanning - Preliminary Design
This phase involves a visit to site to meet with the Client and Project Team to inspect the site and discuss project brief, programme, ideas and concepts. After this initial meeting we prepare a Preliminary Concept Plan illustrating the Development as a whole and present to the Client.
-
3
Masterplanning - Design Development
Further site visits are conducted by the Cashmore Golf Design Team. These visits include meetings with the Client and Project Team to review the Preliminary Concept Plan, which is revised as necessary. In addition to this, data is collated from the site, for use in the preparation of the Detailed Planning and Specifications for the golf course works. In conjunction with the Project Team CGD then prepares the Final Concept Plan and Report, for the entire development if the project calls for it, as well as for the golf course, and presents it to the Client.

Masterplanning - Full Site Masterplan and Masterplan Report A
This phase involves a review of the Final Concept Plans and revising them as necessary. We prepare a full Site Master Plan and Masterplan Report. If the project involves residential or resort planning, then the Masterplan shows the location of boundaries/residential lot setbacks, indicative lot boundaries, clubhouse and car park areas, resort and associated fcdevelopments, maintenance facility location and illustrate the golf course design including fairways, greens, bunkers, tees, rough, landscaping and cartpaths.

Masterplanning - Full Site Masterplan and Masterplan Report B
The Schedule of Drawings includes:
- Masterplan Drawing of the entire development
- Land Use Plan with Areas proposed for each activity (Golf Course, Commercial, Villas, Open Space etc)
- Traffic Plan showing access and roadways
- Water Management Plan showing proposed waterways, lakes, creeks and wetlands.
The Masterplan Report includes a detailed written description of the proposal and indicative images of the golf course and landscaping. It is presented as an A3 presentation booklet and includes all drawings.

Detailed Design
Following Client approval to proceed, we prepare a comprehensive set of detailed working drawings and specifications for the golf course. It has often been said that our construction documentation is the best in the industry. We prepare precise construction plans (all with GPS coordinates) that are used extensively in the construction of the new course. Our documentation includes greens, tees and bunker plans down to 0.25m contour intervals. We provide a detailed Construction Specification report that describes the materials and standards that will be required for each part of the construction process. This specification can be used to issue tenders.

Construction Monitoring
The Construction Monitoring is a critical stage in the design and construction of the golf course and the combined input of our team members during this stage makes the essential difference between a top golf course and an ordinary one. In this regard we make regular site visits during the construction phase in order to achieve the high standards we demand. We also assist with selection of the appropriate personnel who need to be appointed directly by the Client in order to ensure the success of the golf course construction.
During the construction phase, visits are made at critical stages to inspect the works in progress and to assist the on-site construction team in the proper implementation of the golf course design intentions. The visits are made by specialists appropriate to the various stages of construction that will include; principals, golf course designers, irrigation designers, turf specialists and landscape architects. Minor alterations and modifications are made in the field as necessary to ensure that the best possible results are achieved, and all such modifications are recorded. We consult with all team members as required.
